Nick Cannon is trying to be celibate: ‘I’m going to see if I could make it to 2022′

by Susan Ryant

A little over a week ago Nick “I had four kids in a year” Cannon announced that he was taking a break from having kids after his therapist told him to be celibate. At the time I wondered why Nick conflated sex with procreation. Well, it seems Nick is now trying to follow his therapist’s advice. During Revolt’s Drink Champs Show, Nick said that he is gonna try to stay celibate until 2022. Below are a few more details via Insider:

The “Masked Singer” host currently has seven children, four of whom were born in less than a year with three separate women. Cannon also has two 10-year-old twins with his ex-wife Mariah Carey and a four-year-old with model Brittany Bell.

“I’m celibate right now,” Cannon said in the interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. “I’m going to see if I could make it to 2022. I’m trying to chill out.”

The “Wild N Out” host continued: “I’m kind of stepping away, getting focused, going within, getting my celibacy on. I have enough children, enough frolicking, I’m good right now.”

To this, the show’s hosts laughed and N.O.R.E responded: “Nobody believes you right now.”

“I come from a big family, I have several siblings, being raised in an unorthodox family by my grandparents at times, I’ve experienced such a wide range of upbringing that I have such a love and passion for kids and family. I want a big family too,” Cannon said during the interview. “The Lord has blessed me with what I asked, but ask and you shall receive. “

2022 Nick? Like is Nick waiting until January 1, 2022? Will he be working on why he wants to have all these kids and if it is attached to his illness? I make all these points without judgement. The “nuclear family” model should not be used to judge whether or not a family makeup is healthy or not. I also like understanding why Nick wants a big family. The fact that he came from an unconventional family may have been the catalyst. This is not how I would go about creating a large family but to each his own.

I still want to know why Nick is conflating being celibate to not having kids. Yes, you need sex to procreate but that is not the only reason to do the horizontal mamba. I really hope that Nick’s therapist helps him connect to why he feels that he needs to be having sex with multiple women AND getting many of them pregnant. Also, I will continue to say that Nick is at least being intentional (I use that term loosely) about procreating versus some of these folks out here doing drive-bys with their sperm (I am looking at you Future). I do hope that this situation doesn’t get messy for the children’s sake. Wishing everyone in this situation a happy future.
